The Olivia Act | NC and SC Family Photographer

As you all are aware of by now of the tragic events that took place last Friday in Newtown, CT, there was a sweet angel named Olivia Engel who was one of the victims. As a parent myself, I cannot imagine the magnitude of grief that these families must be feeling at this time.  Olivia's family had recently had a professional photo session, and I am sure those pictures will be cherished memories they have of her forever.  A fellow photographer has started a movement in the photography community to challenge all fellow photographers to give back, and I am so happy to say that Amanda Benton Photography will be a part of this movement.

Here is a little information as to the movement that I am speaking about, The Olivia Act, named after one of the sweet, precious children taken away from this world so tragically in Newtown, Ct., was started by a photographer who wishes to remain anonymous. Upon hearing this, this photographer was moved to give away a 30 minute family photo shoot and has challenged other photographers to do the same.  We go about our daily lives and sometimes we don’t take the time or have the resources to have family photos taken, I myself am guilty of doing so.

Do you know a special family that would benefit from this?  If so, I will be taking nominations until January 1, 2013 for a session that will be held after the New Year for this family.  Please email their name, contact information and a brief summary of why you chose them to: amandabentonphotography@carolina.rr.com and put "THE OLIVIA ACT NOMINATION" in the subject line. The chosen family will be contacted via email, so please include their contact information with the nomination. Please do not post their information here or on my Facebook page. The gift that I will be giving to this family will be a 30 minute session and CD of digital portraits, so they may have priceless keepsakes.  This is a no questions asked, no money exchanged, no business promotions or gimmicks session.  This is all done in the memory of all the sweet angels who lost their lives that Friday, and in celebration of families and children everywhere; this is a way that I can use the talent that God has blessed me with to give back to the community.

Additionally, If you have a child that has a special teacher that you would like to nominate, please consider nominating them as well. I will also be choosing a special teacher to receive a free session, along with the special family.

Please share this with your friends and family. Thank you. ♥

Photographers, please consider taking part in this wonderful movement.

Please send all nominations to: amandabentonphotography@carolina.rr.com

Adams Family | South Carolina Family Photographer

I really enjoy getting repeat clients!  It means so much when they come back and want you to capture more memories for them, it's the best compliment that you could receive or hope for. I really have a good time with this family and enjoy the time that we spend together during the sessions.  I enjoy the talks that I have with Jennifer and catching up with her as well.  She has two precious children as well, which makes the time that more enjoyable.  Jennifer I hope that you enjoyed your session as much as I did, and thanks for allowing me to capture the memories for you.

I just love her eyes!!

Nelson Family | South Carolina Family Photographer

A few weekends ago I had the opportunity to photograph such a sweet family and catch-up with a high school friend, it's always nice to catch with old friends.  Kristen you have such a sweet little girl, and I enjoyed every minute of being around her.  She kept a smile on my face the whole session.  I look forward to meeting with you again in the future for more sessions!

Personal Post | Halloween 2012

This Halloween was a different kind of Halloween for us.  We recently put our son on a special (all natural) diet, and have taken away all things artificial flavored from him.  It has made such a big difference in him with his behavior and as an individual.  With us making all the changes that we did, I wasn't too sure what to expect when Halloween time came around this year.  It was really not as bad as what I thought it might be, as he did so well with going out and getting all the treats and then coming home and handing the bag over to me.  He said to me when we got in from trick-or-treating, 'here is my bag mama, now we can trade it for the good stuff'.  I was so impressed with him and what he had said, it was such a wonderful 'mommy moment'.  He really has come a long way from where he was at the beginning of summer.  Also, our cute little sunflower won the Halloween costume at the church trunk-or-treat.

Enough babbling....on to a few Halloween pictures of the kidos.

Hope everyone enjoyed Halloween this year and got lots of goodies.

Catch up post | SC/NC Photographer

I just realized after looking over the blog and getting ideas together on re-vamping the blog that there are several sessions that I didn't blog about.  So this post may be a little long, but it's to get caught up on what I have missed.  I hope that you enjoy.

First up - The dedication of Mr. Parker.  As most of you may know I have photographed this little one since shortly after he was born.  I enjoy every single time that I get together with him and his family, they are all so much fun to be around.  Here is a preview of Mr. Parker's dedication into the church.

Next up -  A fun filled day with energetic twins and their little sister.  These boys are a ball to be with, they are all three full of life and it shows in everything that they all do.  Such precious kids.

Will have more to come in catch up blog post #2.  Stay tuned.

Wash Tub Session at the Farm | South Carolina Baby Photographer

Well here is another catch up blog post.

The other weekend I had a wash tub session with Mr. P, which was so much fun.  When I got back to the office and started going through the pictures from the session I found myself sitting there laughing at some of the outtakes.  Here are some of the pictures from his session.

The horse from the farm, which was in the background of a lot of the pictures.

And an outtake from the session.
